View the Proceedings from 2 February 2022
'The free trade area is the culmination of decades of dreams for a more integrated continent; transcending old artificial borders imposed arbitrarily from the top-down by colonial powers'

Minister Mary’s Ng recent mandate letter from Prime Minister Trudeau confirmed both an Africa strategy and Canada's support for AfCFTA implementation. Hon. Ng’s objectives include: ‘’Developing a strategy for economic cooperation across Africa, including support for the African Continental Free Trade Area, facilitation of increased infrastructure investment and expansion of partnerships in research and innovation.’’

The Chamber is pleased to support the realization of these objectives for accelerated Canada-Africa trade and investment - through our mission of world-class networking and information-sharing events.

We continue to explore Canada's role as a trusted partner in the world's largest free trade agreement by countries participating, with a short, medium and long-term view of the opportunities for Canadian business and Africa's 1.3 billion people.
